Daiku, Perplexity Comet and Perplexity Computer, side by side
Perplexity makes two things people compare with Daiku. Comet is a browser with Perplexity's assistant built in, which you download and switch to. Computer is Perplexity's own agent, working in a cloud sandbox on paid Perplexity plans. Worth knowing
- Perplexity Max includes 10,000 Computer credits a month. Pro doesn't include monthly credits. 3
Where Daiku falls short
- Daiku is invite only for now. You join the list and wait for your invite.
- Daiku isn't open source, and you can't run it on your own computer.
- Daiku works when your AI asks, or on a check you set up. It doesn't plan your day for you.
- Daiku works on websites only. It can't open the files or apps on your computer.
- Some sites block browsers that AI uses. Then you may need to finish a step yourself.
- Your browser sleeps when no one uses it, so the first step after a break takes longer.
Pick Comet or Computer if
- You'd like Perplexity as your main AI.
- You're happy to switch to a new browser on your computer.
- You want an agent that works on its own in the cloud.
Pick Daiku if
- You want an add-on for the AI you already use, not a new AI to learn and trust.
- You'd rather keep Claude, ChatGPT or the AI you already use.
