Daiku and OpenClaw, side by side
OpenClaw is a free, open-source AI agent that runs on your own computer. Daiku gives the AI you already use a browser in the cloud, and asks for your face or fingerprint before it sends, pays or deletes, by default. 1

What OpenClaw does well
- It's free and open source, under the MIT license. 1, 2
- It runs on hardware you own: a Mac, a Windows or Linux PC, even a Raspberry Pi. 1
- You talk to it in chat apps you already use, like WhatsApp, Telegram, Discord and Signal. 1
- It works with the AI model you choose, in the cloud or on your own machine. 2
- Its skill store shows a malware scan for each skill before you install it. 5

Is OpenClaw safe?
- In February 2026, Koi Security found 341 harmful skills among the 2,857 on ClawHub, about 12%. Most of them put password-stealing malware on Macs. 6
- The same month, a bug called CVE-2026-25253 came to light. One click on a bad link could let an attacker change OpenClaw's safety settings and run code. Version 2026.1.29 fixed it. 7
- SecurityScorecard found 40,214 OpenClaw setups open to the internet. It said attackers could run code on 12,812 of them. 8
- OpenClaw's own docs say to treat skills from others as untrusted code, and to read them before you turn them on. 5
What about Hermes Agent?
Where Daiku falls short
- Daiku is invite only for now. You join the list and wait for your invite.
- Daiku isn't open source, and you can't run it on your own computer.
- Daiku acts when your AI asks. It doesn't start work on its own.
- Daiku works on websites only. It can't open the files or apps on your computer.
- Some sites block browsers that AI uses. Then you may need to finish a step yourself.
- Your browser sleeps when no one uses it, so the first step after a break takes longer.
Pick OpenClaw or Hermes if
- You want open source that you can read and change.
- You want it on your own hardware.
- You want to chat with it in WhatsApp, Telegram or Discord.
- You want it to use your files and terminal, and you're ready to keep it secure yourself.
Pick Daiku if
- You'd rather keep Claude, ChatGPT or the AI you already use.
- You'd rather not install anything that can reach your computer.
- You want your face or fingerprint on every payment and send, by default.
- You want a log of every step, and which AI asked for it.
Questions
Is OpenClaw safe to use now?
The one-click bug was fixed in version 2026.1.29. OpenClaw's docs still say to treat skills from others as untrusted code. How safe it is depends on how you set it up and what you add. 7, 5
Is there a hosted OpenClaw?
OpenClaw's own site says it has no hosted plan. Some other companies offer to host it for you. 1, 11
Is Daiku an OpenClaw alternative?
For work on websites, yes. Daiku doesn't replace an agent on your computer. It gives the AI you already use a browser on your accounts.
Do you need a Mac mini or a server at home for Daiku?
No. Daiku runs in the cloud, so there's nothing to set up at home. You add one link to your AI app.
